The architectural idea for the Molėtai Water Education Center is based on a pile dwelling discovered in Lake Luokesai near Molėtai. Founded at the end of the Bronze Age, the structure is characterized by unique technologies, architectural expression, spatial layout, and a way of life surrounded by water. The unique harmony between the architecture of the extinct settlement, nature, and humans inspired new architectural measures, landscape solutions, and functional layout to rethink the significance of the water phenomenon in today's social and cultural contexts and to rediscover ways of coexisting with water by creating the Molėtai Water Knowledge Center.
The key word for the creative ideas behind the building and grounds of the Education Center is "merging." This is reflected not only in the artificial "lake" on the upper terrace of the territory, from which the river flows into Lake Pastovys, but also in the fragmented volume of the main building, which responds to the scale of the surrounding buildings, smooth architectural forms that create a dialogue between nature and the urbanized area, building and plot solutions that allow for maximum preservation of existing trees and relief, and spatial planning that responds to established functional spatial relationships.
